When life threw a curveball at their owner, leading to hospitalization, Cinnamon the goat and Felix the American bulldog mix found themselves at Wake County Animal Center in Raleigh, N.C. It was a new environment for them, but one thing was unmistakable—their extraordinary connection.
Meagan Thomas, who works at Wake County Animal Center, shares that although the shelter has seen its fair share of farm animals, Cinnamon and Felix’s relationship was something new. “When they separated Cinnamon from Felix, she was beside herself,” Meagan recalls. It quickly became clear these two were inseparable.
Initially, the shelter took a cautious approach, housing them together during the day but separating them at meal and bedtime. However, it didn’t take long for the staff to realize that this pair was truly a package deal. Their devotion to each other was unmistakable.
Cinnamon and Felix have their own special way of playing in the shelter’s yard. According to Meagan, “Cinnamon does these adorable bunny binkies, leaping in the air and kicking her feet out, while Felix enjoys body-bumping her in their play.” But it’s not all fun and games—they also cherish their nap times together.

While their affection is mutual, Cinnamon is the more attached of the two. Felix, described as “an all around good dog,” is sociable with both humans and other dogs. But for Cinnamon, Felix is her world. “If she isn’t with him, she gets very upset,” says Meagan. Cinnamon’s attachment is so strong that she tries to peek over at Felix whenever they’re apart and rushes to him whenever she can.
When it came time to think about their future, the shelter staff knew that keeping Cinnamon and Felix together was non-negotiable. They reached out to their rescue partners for assistance, and the Mr. Mo Project stepped up, finding a foster home experienced in caring for both dogs and goats.
This story is a beautiful reminder of the depths of animal friendship and the lengths humans will go to honor and preserve it. Cinnamon and Felix might just be the bestie goals we all aspire to.
